Paul Ferguson has one selection for us on Thursday; Jonjo O’Neill’s Shallow Bay in the 2.20 at Exeter. Compare odds.
Yesterday’s easy winner Mauritino is back in action at Exeter this afternoon and, after another impressive success, Jonjo O’Neill’s charge has to be of interest under a 7lb penalty.
However, there is rain forecast and, as I said yesterday, the seven-year-old needs quick ground, so the day’s sole selection comes in the opening 2m1f novices’ hurdle and in the shape of Shallow Bay (2:20).
The four-year-old was smart on the Flat for Walter Swinburn and makes his debut over hurdles for David Pipe this afternoon.
A Kempton handicap winner last October, the Shamardal gelding went on to chase home the smart Warlu Way at Windsor (grabbed late on by the winner) and finish third to the classy filly Vita Nova at Newmarket.
The selection went off the boil somewhat after that, but the change of stable and eight flights of hurdles could easily rejuvenate Tom Scudamore’s mount.
Thursday’s selection:
2:20 Exeter Shallow Bay
