Paul Ferguson has one selection for us on Friday; he recommends Sir Henry Cecil’s Solar Sky in the 4.05 at Ascot.
Ascot’s Listed Noel Murless Stakes is the highlight on a relatively quiet Friday, in which it is worth taking a chance on Solar Sky (4:05) in a competitive six-runner contest.
Sir Henry Cecil’s Galileo colt disappointed behind subsequent St Leger winner Masked Marvel in the Bahrain Trophy when last seen in July, but that race came just 20 days after he had a tough race here at the Royal meeting and he is well worth another chance.
A maiden winner at Haydock, the half-brother to Oaks winner Love Divine ran a blinder in the Queen’s Vase on just his third start, finishing a neck second to Namibian, who took the Group 3 Gordon Stakes next time.
The chestnut remains unexposed and looks a thorough stayer, so he will need a strong pace over this 1m6f trip, but that could well be on the cards with Barbican, Buthelezi and Eternal Heart all likely to go forward from the gates.
