Dons 7/2 To Upset Ibrox Crowd

Aberdeen could be in for some joy at Ibrox; the Dons are 7/2 (Betfred) to open the scoring and Scott Vernon is 12/1 to net first.

No sooner have Aberdeen found their confidence courtesy of two back-to-back victories in the past week, than a trip to Ibrox awaits on the horizon, in which Boylesports make them 11/1 to secure a third straight success.

However, now is as good a time than any to be travelling to the Gers, as not only will the Dons carry a swagger into Glasgow, but they will also be aware of the fact Rangers have yet to win at home this term.

History also shows that Craig Brown’s side have pushed Rangers hard in recent times, including when taking the lead against them in the first of three clashes last season. Scott Vernon was the man to open proceedings on that occasion, and Betfred risk a frothy-looking 7/2 about the visitors silencing the Ibrox crowd once more, where Vernon is a mouth-watering 12/1.

Celtic are not enjoying the greatest of seasons by their own standards and need to bounce back from a humiliating home defeat last weekend when travelling to St Mirren in Sunday’s televised lunchtime kick-off.

The Bhoys have predictably been made favourites at 4/9 with Stan James, but the fact Saints are fifth in the SPL makes a mockery of their standout 8/1 quote with .

That price looks even bigger when taking into consideration the hosts’ two home wins over Celtic in their last four meetings here ‘to nil’. Another 1-0 win to the hosts is a jaw-dropping 18/1 with Paddy Power, though a quote of 2/1 for them to win on the handicaps with a one-goal start also catches the eye.

St Johnstone’s superb victory at Celtic last weekend sent a shockwave throughout the SPL, delivering a message in the process to the remainder of the division’s sides that the Saints are not a team to be taken lightly.

Ninth-placed Dundee United may want to bear that in mind when entering McDiarmid Park on Saturday as 15/8 outsiders, where the hosts are Ladbrokes’ 6/4 favourites for another three points.

Inverness really need to get among the points soon if wanting to avoid a relegation scrap, and the fact Totesport now make them their 11/4 favourites to finish bottom could be enough to fire Caley into action tomorrow.

While chalk up odds of 4/1 for Terry Butcher to be the next manager ‘to leave their post’, a victory at home to Kilmarnock where they are bet365’s 5/4 favourites, could help restore bookies’ confidence in him staying.

Elsewhere, high-flying Dunfermline look good value at 7/4 with Partybets to see off second-placed Motherwell (7/5, Skybet) at home, while in Sunday’s Edinburgh derby, Hearts look to be holding all the aces at Betdaq’s 1.8 (4/5) as they host a Hibernian side that leaked an average of two goals per match. A home win ‘to nil’ at Skybet’s 7/4 could be the bet here.
