Barcelona look solid at 7/10 (Sportingbet) to win La Liga again while Valencia are a good shout at 6/5 (Unibet) to end up in the top four.
The yearly contest between Barcelona and Real Madrid begins anew and it’s Barcelona who are strong 7/10 favourites with Sportingbet to lift the Spanish Primera title for the fourth consecutive year. Real Madrid are top price 13/8 with Ladbrokes to take La Liga back to the capital.
Barcelona have added well in the summer, Alexis Sanchez adding forward drive and Cesc Fabregas brought in to create continuity in midfield as Xavi moves towards 32 years old. This only benefits an already very strong squad and after scoring 5 against Real Madrid over two legs of Supercopa action, Pep Guardiola’s men are an automatic choice for another league title.
Looking away from the top two for some value is probably the best way to go then as the third favs for the league, Valencia, are 80/1 with YouWin, such is the domination of the ‘big two’.
Valencia have lost Joaquin but added very shrewdly and Unibet’s 6/5 for them to finish in the top four looks to be an excellent price, especially considering they finished well clear in 3rd last year. Furthermore, Paddy Power have 5/2 about Los Che wining the league without Barcelona or Real Madrid factored in, a tempting price indeed.
Atletico Madrid have lost key players in De Gea and Aguero but have bought well in Falcao and they could be shock contenders for a top four place at 9/4 with Blue Square.
At the other end, Granada are 4/7 (William Hill) to go straight back down but seen as they are propped up by Udinese, perhaps they could struggle through; the matter is not as straight forward as the price and they are best left alone. Getafe, on the reverse of this, are in more trouble than their 6/1 (Unibet) about relegation suggests; funding hasn’t really materialised and players galore have left and they will struggle.
Levante lead our candidates for the drop. At 5/2 with William Hill, they are a great price after losing a raft of players including their top scorer Felipe Caicedo and they exist on a tiny budget.
Cristiano Ronaldo is 9/4 fav with Ladbrokes to top score again this season while Lionel Messi, the only real contender, is 5/2 with Paddy Power and really appeals in a Barcelona team that should win the league.
