Hull are a lively outsiders at 11/5 with Boylesports ahead of their Championship clash with hapless Leeds, who could struggle to score.
It’s been a horrible start to the season for Leeds, who followed up an opening day hammering at Southampton with a home reverse against Middlesbrough and to make matters worse for Simon Grayson’s men, they ended Saturday’s defeat with only nine men, following the dismissals of Max Gradel and Jonny Howson.
Meanwhile, Whites supporters have been staging protests against the club’s owner Ken Bates, so it’s clear that all is not well at Elland Road, either on or off the field. Nevertheless, Leeds are 7/5 favourites with Skybet to grab their first league win of the campaign by beating Hull.
However, Howson and Gradel’s suspension added to the absence of strikers Davide Somma and Luciano Becchio means United will kick-off without their four top scorers from last season and even though Andy Keogh has arrived on loan to boost their numbers, they could struggle to break down the visitors.
For their part, the Tigers bounced back from their narrow loss to Blackpool by collecting an impressive three points at Ipswich on Saturday and at 11/5 with Boylesports they undoubtedly look overpriced. Nigel Pearson’s side kept a clean sheet at Portman Road and looked relatively solid at the back in the 1-0 loss to the Seasiders, only a goal of tremendous quality, getting the better of them so they should be able to cope with anything the depleted Leeds attack can throw at them.
A Hull clean sheet at 11/4 () catches the eye then, especially as the odds are slightly higher than the quotes for an away win, while punters looking for more of a 50-50 flutter can tackle Stan James’ 10/11 for the match to produce fewer than 2.5 goals.
Coventry have also lost their two opening Championship contests, also managing to sandwich a Carling Cup reverse against Bury in between, so they don’t head to Crystal Palace in particularly decent shape.
The Eagles registered a relatively comfortable 2-0 victory against Burnley on Saturday and they should have the nous to collect another maximum haul at the expense of the Sky Blues, a result rated at 11/10 by Coral.
Finally, goals could be at a premium as Doncaster and Nottingham Forest lock horns at the Keepmoat Stadium. Rovers have injury problems galore in attack while Forest have barely looked like scoring in their two outings. Betfred’s 8/11 for the match to generate under three goals tempts then but a better bet could be Paddy Power’s evens for at least one of the teams to fail to score.
