Richard Hannon looks to have found a nice opportunity for Trumpet Major (4:00) to go one better than he did in the Listed Winkfield Stakes at Ascot last time and the Arakan colt is taken to land Newmarket’s conditions stakes on Thursday.
A winner at the second time of asking at Goodwood in May, the two-year-old appeared to relish the step up to 7f last time and only went down by a short-head.
He pulled 6 lengths clear of the third and he can take this for Pat Dobbs before moving back up in grade. The selection opened up at 10/11 on Wednesday evening.
