Live on Skysports 2: Tues 19.45: Leeds are 8/15 favourites with Sportingbet to see off Bradford in the pair’s Carling Cup showdown.
Both Leeds and Bradford made poor starts to the new season on Saturday, losing their respective opening matches and so the pair will be looking for a Carling Cup pick-me-up as they lock horns in what should be a keenly contested local derby clash at Elland Road.
Two divisions above their neighbours, Leeds are odds-on at 8/15 with Sportingbet to get the better of the Bantams in normal time, while the visitors are as high 11/2 () to cause an upset and Betfred post 7/2 against the draw.
The Whites looked porous at the back and toothless going forward at Southampton, injury problems up front leaving them short of potency and if Peter Jackson’s Bradford had any form to speak of, even in League Two, there’d be a case for backing them to stun the hosts.
However, City finished 18th last season and have started this campaign with a defeat, so it’s hard to recommend them here. The Championship outfit should make their extra quality tell then but it’s hard to see them registering an easy victory and bet365 make them 13/5 to nick it by one.
Simon Grayson’s attacking options remain limited so he’s likely to give Billy Paynter plenty of game time in this one as he reshuffles his pack. The striker came off the bench at the weekend, squandering a great chance but he’s a decent bet to breach the Bradford rearguard and Paddy Power quote him at 5/1 to break the deadlock.
Recommended Bets:
Billy Paynter to score first – 5/1 (Paddy Power)
