Paul Ferguson has two selections for us at Newbury on Sunday; Rajnagan at 2.10 and Polygon at 4.30. Compare odds and bet
The feature at Newbury on Sunday is the Listed EBF “Paco Boy” Chalice Stakes and, despite her lack of experience, it is worth siding with the lightly raced Polygon (4:30).
A maiden winner at the track last month, winning impressively from a subsequent winner, the Dynaformer filly has plenty to find on official figures but she is easily the least exposed runner and is potentially smart.
Earlier on the card, a regular from this column Rajnagan (2:10) is likely to be tough to beat in the opener, on his return to the Flat.
Paul Webber’s seven-year-old has only run once on the level in England, when third at Chepstow in May, and he is well handicapped on a mark of 59.
The chestnut travelled really well that day and hit the front on the bridle, giving the impression that the drop back to today’s trip will be ideal.
Since that run the selection has won four handicap hurdles, starting his winning sequence off 77 at Uttoxeter, and he was last seen finishing a highly creditable fourth in the valuable Summer Hurdle (off 119) when the ground was softer than ideal.
Sunday’s selection:
2:10 Newbury: Rajnagan
4:30 Newbury: Polygon
