Namibian has been cut to 10/1 (from 16/1) by Betfred for the Ladbrokes St Leger following his narrow victory in the bet365 Gordon Stakes at Goodwood.
The winner got the better of a protracted duel with 11/10 favourite Fiorente with Silvestre de Sousa managing to get his mount up on the line and consequently the latter has been eased to 10/1 (from 8/1) for the final classic of the season.
“Namibian showed great courage to overhaul Fiorente in the Gordon Stakes but was probably more suited to the way the race was run than the runner-up and the latter shouldn’t be discounted if heading to Doncaster for the St Leger,” said Betfred spokesman George Primarolo.
Earlier on the card, Modun just failed to overhaul Arlequin in the bet365.com Stakes at Goodwood but has been cut to 10/1 (from 14/1) by the sponsor for the Betfred Ebor at York next month.
Looking ahead to Thursday’s Guinness Galway Hurdle and Dirar has been cut to 7/1 (from 8/1) by Betfred following the news that last year’s winner Overturn will miss the race in favour of a crack at the Goodwood Cup.
