The sponsors have opened their book on this year’s Betfred Sprint Cup at Haydock and make recent July Cup winner Dream Ahead their 11/4 favourite.
David Simcock’s colt ended his juvenile season as the joint-top-rated two-year-old alongside Frankel following his victory in the Middle Park but struggled against that rival in two subsequent starts.
However, the drop back in trip to six furlongs worked the oracle in the July Cup last weekend and he will be looking to confirm his superiority against runner-up Bated Breath – a 5/1 shot – when the pair meet in September.
“Dream Ahead looks to have the sprint division at his mercy following his victory in the July Cup and given he’ll be even better with a bit of cut in the ground, the Betfred Sprint Cup should be his for the taking,” Betfred chairman Fred Done told betrescue.com
Delegator finished fifth behind Dream Ahead and Bated Breath at Newmarket and is 5/1 to give Godolphin their first victory since Diktat took the 1999 running whilst last year’s winner Markab is 10/1 to win back-to-back renewals of the race.
