Paul Ferguson has another selection for us on Thursday; Steps For Freedom in the 21.05 at Leopardstown this evening. Compare odds.
A dual winner over hurdles, Johnny McGeeney shaped well in a similar contest a fortnight ago, but he is taken on with Steps To Freedom (9:05) in the concluding 1m6f maiden at Leopardstown on Thursday evening.
The son of Statue Of Liberty won a bumper at Tipperary last June and, after falling the following month, he returned to winning ways in the Grade 2 at Aintree on Grand National day, when he beat the smart Montbazon by 2 lengths.
Disappointing on his last start in Punchestown’s Grade 1 contest, he has since left Gordon Elliott’s yard and now represents Jessie Harrington, who saddled the winner of this race last year.
Quick ground suits the five-year-old ideally and he could have too much pace for his rivals here, before being readied for an autumn campaign over hurdles.
Thursday’s selection:
9:05 Leopardstown Steps To Freedom
