Paul Ferguson has two more tips for us on Wednesday; Kangaroo Court (4.00, Worc) and Royal Swain (4.10, Carl). Compare odds.
Competitive handicaps are the order of the day on Wednesday, none more so than the Totesport.com Cumberland Plate at Carlisle in which Royal Swain (4:10) can go well and looks potentially over-priced.
Alan Swinbank’s former dual bumper winner has won a Thirsk maiden and a Catterick handicap since having his attentions turned to the Flat. The five-year-old ran on well in a stronger race at York’s Dante meeting last time and, off the same mark, he appeals as the type to go well.
Any further rain wouldn’t be a concern and he was trading at 16/1 overnight, so can be backed each-way with all firms offering ¼ odds to 4 places.
Emma Lavelle’s Kangaroo Court (4:00) is returning from a 70-day lay-off and stepping up to 3m for the first time at Worcester, but there is a chance he is a better class to his rivals in the Worcester-racecourse.co.uk Handicap Hurdle.
Back in his novice hurdle days, he was impressive in winning at Doncaster and Lingfield, whilst his Ascot second (when he split Karabak and Somersby) makes him look well treated on a mark of 134.
The seven-year-old looked on his way back to form at Cheltenham when last seen in April and, as long as the rain stays away, he looks capable of a big run. Again, he looked reasonably priced overnight at 7/1.
Wednesday’s selections:
