Live on Eurosport: Fri 13.00: Andy Murray, 9/2 with Sportingbet, will have to be at his very best to beat Rafa Nadal at the French Open.
Murrray has played a mix of good and poor tennis so far at Roland Garros, drawing marks of 5/10 from some pundits but his final set against Chela in the quarter was a strong showing. After yet another unconvincing start, Murray finally hit a gear to win out 3-0 but faces a whole new test in clay specialist Rafael Nadal.
Nadal, just 1/5 with Stan James, has not been great himself but a good win over Robin Soderling should but him back in the zone and on course for the final. Nadal is probably a touch short at 11/10 to win 3-0 (Boylesports) and Skybet’s 11/4 for a 3-1 win for the Spaniard is more tempting.
Novak Djokovic is just 1/3 with Ladbrokes to beat Roger Federer in the semi finals of the French Open.
Djokovic is on a mission to gain the World No.1 spot and victory here will propel him into another Slam final and extend his unbeaten run to 42 games this year, equal with John McEnroe.
Roger Federer is the man who stands in his way, Skybet quoting 11/4 for the Swiss legend to win. It’s a pretty amazing quote considering Federer’s calibre and not-too-distant dominance of the game but there’s no arguing over the player in form right now.
One of the main arguements in Federer’s favour is that, for once, he is well out of the spotlight and is expected to lose. The pressure could tell on Djokovic but it’s unlikely; the Serb’s drive will surely see him through.
A devastating 3-0 win for Djokovic is 9/5 with Boylesports while a comfortable 3-1 win is 5/2 with Betfred. Roger Federer is 8/1 with bet365 to shade a 5 set thriller but perhaps it’s best to stick with the in-form Serb here.
