Paul Ferguson has two selections for us today on Thursday, both from Haydock; Midsummer Sun (4.35) and Solar Sky (5.05). Compare odds
Henry Cecil sends just two horses up to Haydock on Thursday and the pair can make it a worthwhile trip by landing both divisions of the Football Pools Maiden Stakes, providing the trainer with a likely short-priced double.
The first division can go the way of Midsummer Sun (4:35) who was pulled out of the closing contest at Newbury on Saturday, due to the prevailing quick ground.
The Monsun colt is a half-brother to the top-class Midday and the Derby entry can be expected to have come on a ton for his racecourse debut at the Craven meeting, where he was too keen for his own good.
Division two can go the way of Solar Sky (5:05) who chased home stable-mate World Domination on his debut at Newbury in April.
The Galileo colt, who holds an entry in the Group 2 King Edward VII Stakes at Royal Ascot (as does Midsummer Sun), made eye-catching progress at the Berkshire track and looked a sure-fire future winner.
A half-brother to Oaks winner Love Divine, he should be hard to beat here before going on to better things, a comment that also applies to Midsummer Sun.
Thursday’s selections:
4:35 Haydock Midsummer Sun
5:05 Haydock Solar Sky
