Paul Ferguson has two more tips for us on Friday; Skip Along (2.50, Newm) and Big Time Billy (6.35, Aintree).
After a highly promising debut at Sandown last month Skip Along (2:50) is fancied to land the Lloyds TSB Commercial Finance Maiden Fillies’ Stakes at Newmarket this afternoon.
The Galileo filly chased home Arizona Jewel on debut and, though the winner failed to shine in the Musidora Stakes earlier in the week, the race had a fairly strong feel about it.
John Gosden has her entered in the Ribblesdale Stakes at Royal Ascot and, if that is to become a viable option, she needs to be taking care of this lot, with the step up to 1m4f a huge positive on both breeding and running style.
Peter Bowen has a cracking record with his runners at Aintree, notably his hurdlers, and the Pembrokeshire handler can strike once again this evening with Big Time Billy (6:35).
The daughter of Definite Article won the mares’ bumper at the Grand National meeting last year and finished third in the same Listed contest last month. She bettered that by finishing fifth in the Grade 1 bumper at Punchestown last time, form that stands out in this company.
Both Looks Like Slim and Rumble Of Thunder set a fair standard but, in receipt of 13lbs from the pair, the selection ought to have too much class for them if jumping proficiently on her hurdling debut.
