Live on ESPN & Skysports 1: Sat 17.30, Sun 12.00, 14.05 & 16.10: Man United are a decent 7/5 () to beat Chelsea.
Manchester United’s defeat at Arsenal hasn’t handed the Premiership title initiative to chasing Chelsea, but it has left the door slightly ajar for Carlo Ancelotti’s men ahead of Sunday’s trip to Old Trafford.
While the championship won’t be won and lost this weekend, the showdown has to be considered a decider and as United are in the driving seat, the Blues probably need to become the first team this term to beat them on their own patch. However, Chelsea are William Hill’s 2/1 outsiders for the points, while a home win is 7/5 () and Betfred mark 12/5 against the draw.
That result would suit the hosts, whose strength at home makes defeat unlikely but with 16 wins in 17 matches at Old Trafford, United nevertheless tempt at 4/6 in Coral’s ‘Draw No Bet’ market.
Wayne Rooney has broken the deadlock against the Blues twice this term and seemingly able to rise to the big occasion, he’s decent value at 5/1 with Paddy Power to repeat the feat but it should nevertheless be a low-scoring affair featuring fewer than 2.5 goals (4/5, Stan James).
Tottenham should reclaim fifth spot, at least temporarily, by getting the better of struggling Blackpool, a result Ladbrokes offer at 1/3 and William Hill quote 3/5 for Spurs to come out on top in a match that produces three or more goals. That could be enough to keep Harry Redknapp’s side ahead of Liverpool, who may have to settle for a draw (12/5, William Hill) against a solid-looking Fulham while Manchester City, who have fourth almost sewn up, are 3.3 (23/10) courtesy of Betdaq to share the spoils with Everton.
Arsenal meanwhile, aren’t really a realistic title contender at this stage, despite beating United and the Gunners, Betfred’s 8/11 favourites, might find the going tough at the Britannia Stadium, where Stoke are 21/20 with Partybets to avoid defeat.
At the bottom, Sportingbet offer an enticing 11/10 for Wolves to ease their relegation worries by sending West Brom home from Molineux empty-handed but West Ham and Wigan look a little less likely to secure a crucial three points. The Hammers are 5/2 with Totesport to only manage a draw at home to Blackburn and a stalemate is rated at an identical 5/2 (bet365) as the Latics travel to Aston Villa.
Finally, Newcastle are priced by William Hill at 10/11 as they entertain Birmingham and Bolton are a cracking 5/6 with Coral to overcome injury-ravaged Sunderland.
