Luton are 888Sport’s 2/1 favourites to gain promotion from an intriguing looking Blue Square Premier play-off battle but the Hatters might find the going tough at Wrexham in the semi-final and are subsequently too short a price to warrant an interest.
Their welsh opponents, who finished fourth in the table, are 7/2 with William Hill to climb back into the Football League and Totesport post 4/1 against Fleetwood plotting a path to League Two but it’s hard not to fancy AFC Wimbledon (5/2, ) who go into the end-of-season mini-tournament in tremendous shape.
The Dons are in the winning habit, having taken maximum points from six of their last seven matches, the other finishing all square and it can be crucial at this juncture to be in confident mood and in a good spell of form.
AFC Wimbledon also finished second by six points so it’s fair to say that in any other season, without an outstanding Crawley team in their way, Terry Brown’s side would have gone up automatically and they really deserve to be the team that ultimately prevails.
In the final meanwhile, they could come up against resilient Wrexham who took ten points from a possible twelve at the end of the campaign and it’s 11/4 (Stan James) for those two to collide at Eastlands.
