Live on Skysports 1: Sat 17.30: A Chelsea win and a Manchester United draw stand out as we look at the weekend’s Premiership games.
A run of just one win in seven has seen Arsenal’s title push disintegrate and Arsene Wenger’s men subsequently go into their clash against champions-elect Manchester United with more chance of missing out on third place than clinching top spot.
Nevertheless, Arsenal are slight favourites at 2.6 (8/5) with Betdaq to prevail in the Emirates Stadium contest and Sir Alex Ferguson’s side are quoted by at 15/8 to edge closer to a 19th league title, although as five of the Gunner’s last seven have finished all square, William Hill’s 12/5 for the draw isn’t without appeal and that’s a result that would suit United.
Ladbrokes offer 11/2 for it to finish one-apiece in north London, Betfred price the contest at 4/1 to be level at the end of each half and it’s 5/6 with Stan James for the match to produce fewer than 2.5 goals. Javier Hernandez meanwhile, who struck United’s winner against Everton last weekend, is 13/8 with Totesport to find the net at any stage.
Chelsea can keep their slim hopes of overhauling the league leaders alive by getting the better of Tottenham at Stamford Bridge. However, at just 8/15 with Ladbrokes, the Blues aren’t exactly a money spinner and better value, given Spurs’ attacking quality, is Coral’s 19/10 for Carlo Ancelotti’s charges to come out on top but also concede at least once.
Man City are 2/5 courtesy of Totesport to tighten their grip on a Champions League place by denting West Ham’s survival hopes at Eastlands, where Roberto Mancini’s troops are 13/10 with William Hill to beat the Hammers ‘to nil’ and Liverpool are 7/5 (Partybets) to do likewise as they entertain Newcastle.
At the bottom, bet365 make Wolves 12/5 to earn a point against Birmingham and fellow strugglers Wigan may also have to settle for a draw (12/5, Sportingbet), as they lock horns with resolute Everton while at Bloomfield Road, Blackpool are in dire need of a maximum haul against Stoke and they’re 7/4 with bet365 to send the weary Potters home empty-handed.
The other team in trouble towards the drop zone, Blackburn, face a tricky derby showdown against Bolton and are 12/5 (Paddy Power) to only land a point in a fixture that is 20/21 with Stan James to produce fewer than 2.5 goals.
Finally, Betfred price West Brom at 5/4 to overcome Aston Villa at the Hawthorns and Fulham look generously priced at 21/10 with Paddy Power to land three points at injury-ravaged Sunderland.
