Rangers To Keep Pressure On

Live on Skysports 4 & ESPN: Sat 12.00, Sun 12.45: Rangers, 4/7 (Paddy Power), need 3 SPL points to keep the pressure on Celtic.

With Celtic playing on Sunday, Rangers have the chance to apply pressure on their rivals in the title race when they travel to Motherwell in tomorrow’s televised lunchtime kick-off.

The Gers are 4/7 (Paddy Power) to land all three vital points and will be licking their lips at the prospect of stepping foot on Fir Park, as they have not lost at that venue since 2002. They are also well-priced at 13/10 with Stan James to lead at the end of both halves, while the hosts’ weakness in the second half, where they won that period just seven times in 34 attempts, could see Rangers win the second half alone at 4/5.

Punters looking at a correct-score may want to remember that Motherwell scored against Rangers in six of their last seven meetings, pointing up a 3-1 away win at Ladbrokes’ 11/1. Meanwhile, Partybets offer insurance for Walter Smith’s side winning 2-1, 3-1 or 4-1 at 16/5.

Celtic get to entertain the cameras 24 hours later when hosting fourth-placed Dundee United, where Coral make the home side red-hot 3/10 favourites.

Investors looking at United’s recent record at Celtic Park could be tempted by a draw at a juicy 9/2 (bet365) as they have left level during seven of their last nine visits. Considering the Bhoys have kept five straight clean sheets, a third 0-0 between them here since 2008 could pay dividends at Sportingbet’s 16/1. Alternatively, the visitors are 4/5 with about winning the game on the handicap receiving a colossal two-goal start.

Elsewhere, third-placed Hearts will need to solidify their Europa League place at Kilmarnock (17/10, William Hill) where they are 13/8 (Betfred). There should be a result here as the pair have not shared the points in 10 clashes, during which time Hearts won on all three visits here 2-1, 2-1 and 2-0. The former is a 9/1 shot with Totesport.

Aberdeen come face-to-face with Inverness at Pittodrie in what promises to be an exciting encounter where local pride will be on the line. Ladbrokes make the hosts their 5/4 favourites, with Inverness a 12/5 shot via Paddy Power, while a draw is chalked up at 3.1 (21/10, Betdaq).

Although the Dons will want to put on a show for their home fans, their current position in the SPL does not leave them with much to play for, unlike Caley, who are just four points away form a vital sixth place in the table. On that basis, the visitors look the value choice of the pair at the prices.

St Johnstone’s chances of making the top six virtually came to an end on Easter Monday, but they still have pride to play for when visiting Hibernian in which they are installed as 3.4 (12/5) outsiders with Betdaq.

Monday sees the bottom two sides face-off at St Mirren, who are Paddy Power’s 11/10 favourites to come 12 points clear of Hamilton.
