Paul Ferguson has two selections for us on Tuesday, both at Fairyhouse; Last Instalment (5.30) and Peak Raider (4:55). Compare odds
Fairyhouse stages another cracking card on Tuesday and Peak Raider (6:35), who missed possible engagements at the Cheltenham Festival and in the Red Rum Handicap at Aintree, can land the Dan Moore Memorial Handicap Chase.
Tommy Carberry’s charge is 7lb out of the handicap, but Peter Carberry’s claim offsets 5lbs of that and the improving seven-year-old can take this step up in class in his stride to complete the four-timer.
Earlier on the card, I’m sticking with Last Instalment (5:30) in the Grade 2 novice hurdle as the unbeaten six-year-old has provided this column with a couple of successes in the past couple of months.
A winner at this fixture last year, when he won the point-to-point bumper by 27 lengths, he is two from two over timber, and took a competitive contest at Limerick last time.
The son of Anshan has yet to encounter ground this quick, but the way he moves suggests it shouldn’t pose him any problems, and Philip Fenton’s runner can make it five out of five.
Elsewhere on the card Rigidity and What A Charm are a pair of interesting four-year-olds who also warrant serious consideration. The former needs to bounce back from a disappointing effort last time, however, while the latter needs to defy an 8lb rise in the weights following his Fred Winter success, plus he now faces his elders.
Tuesday selections:
5:30 Fairyhouse Last Instalment
6:35 Fairyhouse Peak Raider
