Midnight Club Leads Maximum Field

A maximum field of 40 has been declared for Saturday’s John Smith’s Grand National and The Midnight Club is the 9/1 fav (totesport).

Northern Alliance, Roll Along and Our Monty were the only three withdrawals from the race this morning which means 50/1 shot Golden Kite scrapes into the race at number 40. The four reserves for the race are Always Waining, Faasel, Le Beau Bai and Giles Cross.

“The Midnight Club currently heads the National market at the final declaration stage but there is a real head of steam building behind Don’t Push It and the McCoy factor may well ensure that last year’s winner goes off favourite on Saturday,” said totesport spokesman George Primarolo.

Don’t Push It is currently a 12/1 shot with totesport alongside Oscar Time, Silver By Nature and What A Friend. Backstage is the 11/1 second-favourite for Grand National-winning trainer Gordon Elliott and it’s 14/1 bar those six. The Midnight Club is currently a 2/1 shot to go off as favourite for the race with Don’t Push It 4/1 to be returned the jolly.

totesport are also paying out on five places on the John Smith’s Grand National on bets placed by phone and internet customers from this morning onwards and will be offering this concession across the board (including all shops) from 9am tomorrow morning.
