Plenty Pocket, ridden by Charlie Swan, is 3/1 fav with Totesport for the Aintree Legends Charity Race, a special race for 4-year-olds and up.
The 30th anniversary of Aldaniti’s emotional victory in the Grand National will see a special charity race run in aid of the Bob Champion Cancer Trust and Plenty Pocket – ridden by Charlie Swan – heads the market at 3/1 for the race with totesport, Aintree’s official betting partner.
The charity race is not run under the rules of racing but is for four-year-olds and upwards who have run at least three times under the recognised rules of racing. All horses have to be rated between 0-135 for hurdles and steeplechasers and 0-100 for flat horses.
“The John Smith’s Aintree Legends Charity Race looks all set to be a cracking spectacle but we reckon it’ll be Plenty Pocket who will come out on top and crown Charlie Swan as king of the Grand National legends,” said totesport spokesman George Primarolo.
Higgy’s Boy – ridden by 1990 Grand National-winning jockey Marcus Armytage – is next in the market at 7/2 whilst Tony Dobbin’s mount Fortuni is a 4/1 chance. Fair Gale will be ridden by Hywel Davies and is a 9/2 shot whilst Carl Llewellyn, who partnered two National winners in the shape of Party Politics and Earth Summit, rides South O’The Border who is at 8/1.
The Tote will be running a pool on the race at Aintree on Saturday with all profits from the race going to the Bob Champion Cancer Trust. Details of how to donate to the charity can be found at bobchampion.org.uk
