Saints To Stutter At O’s?

Leyton Orient, chasing the League One playoffs, are 7/4 () to upset Southampton in the ‘draw no bet’ market.

Southampton are on the verge of the automatic promotion places and Leyton Orient have a great chance to secure a play-off place so both teams will be desperate to get their hands on a vital maximum haul as they meet Brisbane Road.

Despite being away from home, Saints are 888Sport’s 11/10 favourites while Leyton Orient are 14/5 courtesy of Totesport. That looks a touch high where the O’s are concerned given their incredible run of form but discouraging us is the visitors’ run of six wins in seven and indeed Lee Barnard’s five goals in six, which make him an attractive proposition at 6/5 (Coral) to find the net.

It’s worth treading carefully then and subsequently there’s a certain amount of temptation surrounding 7/4 chalked against Russell Slade’s charges in the ‘Draw No Bet’ market, although punters would be well advised to keep stakes low.

Bournemouth have taken just two points from their last six matches, culminating in a midweek defeat at Bristol Rovers and the Cherries’ grip on a play-off place is loosening as a result. Lee Bradbury’s troops can get back on track this weekend however, as they entertain hapless Tranmere.

On a poor run at precisely the wrong time, struggling Rovers are deep in trouble having won just one of their last eleven and the goals have dried up for Les Parry’s men, who were hammered 4-0 by Sheffield Wednesday on Tuesday. They have their work cut out at Dean Court then, where the Cherries are pretty strong and with the increasing threat of the chasing pack ousting Bournemouth from the top six set to spur them into action, Bradbury’s men are a banker at 3/4 with William Hill.

To make the hosts more profitable, punters have a couple of options, firstly Tranmere’s scoring troubles lend appeal to a win ‘to nil’ at 7/4 with Skybet but shading that in terms of value is Paddy Power’s 15/8 chalked against the Cherries in the handicaps, where they start from a goal behind.

Meanwhile, Brentford have won four of their last five in the league and can put Sunday’s Johnstone’s Paints Trophy Final defeat behind them at Griffin Park by heaping more misery on rock-bottom Swindon, a result William Hill offer at 23/20.

Recommended Bets:
Leyton Orient to beat Southampton ‘Draw No Bet’ – 7/4 ()
Bournemouth (-1) to beat Tranmere – 15/8 (Paddy Power)
Brentford to beat Swindon – 23/20 (William Hill)
