Backstage has been the subject of a Monday gamble to go off favourite for the Grand National at the weekend with and has been cut from 14s into 6/1.
spokesperson Charlie McCann: “We wanted to get money for the Gordon Elliot horse given we think he lacks the form or the profile of a horse that will go off market leader despite having a similar point-to-point preparation as had 33/1 winner Silver Birch in 2007. He is getting 8lbs from a running-on Gold Cup fourth owned by Manchester United’s manager and while his chance in the race is much respected it will cost us if Backstage is the one for punters come Saturday.”
