Live on Skysports 4: Sun 12.45: Hibs could be a touch high at 15/8 (Stan James) in the Edinburgh derby but a score draw is preferred.
Bragging rights in the capital have been confined to Gorgie of late with Hearts having won the last four derby clashes and the third-placed Jambos are narrow favourites at 8/5 with Paddy Power to make it five victories in a row over neighbours Hibs.
The rejuvenated Hibees however, have won five out of their last six after a dreadful run while their neighbours’ fortunate victory against St Mirren last time out ended a run of three games without a goal so the formbook points to the hosts, who look a touch high at 15/8 with Stan James. Nevertheless, with this game historically tight and Hibs’ current form offsetting their poor recent derby record, punters should keep the stalemate onside at odds of 9/4 with Coral.
Given the quality of attackers at both ends of the field, it’s not a clash that should finish goalless (8/1, Totesport) and as a result the best bet in the match is undoubtedly Coral’s mouth-watering 7/2 for the sides to play out any score draw.
A 1-1 scoreline is available at 11/2 with Partybets and offer a generous even-money for both teams to score while Colin Calderwood’s men are in decent enough shape to suggest they won’t lose in Leith and they’re therefore a fairly safe shout in the handicaps where they kick off with a goal start at 8/15 (bet365).
In a nip-and-tuck affair, the craft of Rudi Skacel could prove crucial for the Jambos and the Czech midfielder will understandably be well backed at 6.5 (11/2) with Betdaq to break the derby deadlock. However, Hibs have scored first five times in six matches and could do so again here so Akpo Sodje (11/2, bet365) is the eye catching first scorer flutter, especially as he’s a threat from set-pieces.
Meanwhile, five of the Hibees’ last six have been goalless at the break, this one is 6/4 (Ladbrokes) to follow suit and Betfred offer evens for the opening goal to be struck after the 27-minute mark.
Recommended Bets:
