England To Edge Tight Affair

Live on Skysports 1: Sat 15.00: England, at 1.5 (1/2) with Betdaq, are expected to win in Wales but they could face stubborn resistance.

England’s stalemate against Montenegro in October wasn’t an ideal result but Fabio Capello’s men remain in a decent position in Euro 2012 qualifying Group G after three games and bookies are convinced they will reach next year’s finals, bet365 pricing them at 1/20 to make it and Ladbrokes making England 2/9 to top the pool.

By contrast, Wales currently prop up the group having lost all three of their games, scoring just once in the process and Gary Speed’s side already look up against it in terms of qualification, bet365 quoting them at 66/1 to get through to Poland and Ukraine.

It perhaps not surprising then that England are emphatic 1.5 (1/2) favourites with Betdaq as they head to Cardiff to face the Welsh, who are Paddy Power’s 7/1 outsiders. Having only gleaned a share of the spoils against Montenegro, Capello’s troops are 7/2 (Stan James) to be held to another draw while another goalless encounter, available with Sportingbet at 10/1, could also attract cash, especially as the hosts will inevitably raise their game for such a huge clash.

England are on a hiding to nothing in the Millennium Stadium, prevail and they have done what was expected but fail to collect maximum points and a major inquest will surely follow. However, despite the pressure the ‘Three Lions’ will be under, they should ultimately get the job done in what looks set to be a tight affair.

They’re a tasty 11/4 courtesy of Stan James, to shade it by a one-goal margin and 11/2 (888Sport) to register a 1-0 triumph in a clash that could produce fewer than three goals (4/5, Partybets).

Elsewhere, it could take Capello’s side a while to break the resistance of a potentially stubborn Wales outfit and subsequently, Betfred’s 10/3 for the visitors to come out on top after a drawn first half catches the eye.

In attack meanwhile, Liverpool’s Andy Carroll, who could start, is 6/1 () to break the deadlock and bet365 price the powerful striker at a tempting 15/8 to notch at any stage.

Recommended Bets:
Draw/England in the HT/FT betting – 10/3 (Betfred)
Under 2.5 goals – 4/5 (Partybets)
England to win by a one-goal margin – 11/4 (Stan James)
