Coral reckon the results on the first day of the Cheltenham Festival will have a huge bearing on the fortunes of bookmakers and punters.
Cue Card, 7/4 favourite for the Supreme, and Quevega, 10/11 favourite for the Mares Hurdle, are two of the shortest priced favourites at the Festival which gets underway tomorrow and with Medermit, 11/4 favourite for the Arkle and Menorah, 3/1 favourite for the Champion Hurdle, also heavily backed antepost the results on the first day could prove crucial in the annual battle between punter and bookmaker.
“Day one of the Festival looks by far the most punter friendly of the four, with four of the seven races featuring favourites around 3/1 or shorter, and the results on the day could well set the tone for the meeting”, said Simon Clare, Coral Spokesman, told betrescue.com.
“If punters get off to a good start it could be hard for the bookies to pull it back, but if some or all of these short priced favourite get beat the next three days look far more weighted in the bookies’ favour”, added Clare.
