Toffees To Edge Out Brum

Everton may have lost out to Reading in the Cup but they are picking up league form; Paddy Power make the Toffees 4/7 to win again.

Last week pretty much summed up Everton’s frustrating campaign as the Toffees sandwiched a dreadful FA Cup defeat to Championship opposition, in between two decent league wins over teams above them in the Premiership table.

David Moyes’ men have also defeated Chelsea on penalties, taken points from top teams but lost at home to relegation strugglers and it’s this inconsistency that has hampered their progress all season. Nevertheless, Everton can move into eighth spot if they defeat Birmingham at Goodison Park, a result Paddy Power rate at 4/7.

The visitors, Betdaq’s 7.0 (6/1) outsiders are currently in the bottom three but as the table is so congested, they are only six points behind the Toffees, so they are no pushovers. Indeed, given how unpredictable Moyes’ side have been, some punters may even fancy Stan James’ 3/1 marked against the draw. However, Everton have already beaten City this season, picking up an impressive maximum haul with a 2-0 triumph at St Andrews and they should have the edge in this one.

Alex McLeish’s side are still more than capable of keeping things tight in the early stages and there’s every chance they could keep Everton at bay in the first period, ensuring scores are level at the break (5/4, Totesport), especially as the hosts have at times lacked cutting edge this term.

Following an even opening 45 minutes, it’s 16/5 with William Hill for a home success and in a clash that is a tempting 3/4 () to produce fewer than three goals, the Toffees are 6/1 with Betfred to again notch twice without reply while a victory ‘to nil’ for Moyes’ charges is quoted by Partybets at 11/10.

Recommended Bets:
Everton and Birmingham to be drawing at half-time – 5/4 (Totesport)
Under 2.5 goals – 3/4 ()
