Boris Johnson’s odds of being the next permanent Tory leader have been cut by Ladbrokes from 9/2 to 3/1 fav.
The bookies’ politics punters have backed the current Mayor of London for the position and he now consolidates as the favourite at 3/1 (from 9/2). George Osborne is the 8/1 second favourite with Liam Fox a 14/1 chance (all Ladbrokes).
Boris is also a popular choice in the betting for the 2012 London Mayoral elections as he’s the 8/11 market leader from Ken Livingstone at 11/10. Odds of 16/1 about any Liberal candidate suggest that it’s a two horse race.
Finally, the bookmaker has issued odds of 250/1 that Johnson delivers the Olympic Torch at the opening ceremony on one of his ‘Boris-bikes’.
Alex Donohue of Ladbrokes said: “Johnson is all the rage and continued support has seen him surge to the head of both politics markets he’s involved in. If he decides to deliver the torch by his preferred method of transport then we’d be in trouble!”
