Live on ESPN: Tue 19.30: Everton face Reading in the FA Cup 5th Round as 8/15 favs (Stan James) and Beckford could be the danger.
If Everton had faced Reading in the FA Cup fifth round following the dramatic penalty shootout success at Stamford Bridge then it would be easier to make a case for an upset as there might have been an element of ‘after the Lord Mayor’s Show’ about the clash from a Toffees perspective. However, David Moyes’ side showed that they have lost none of their focus on Saturday as they brushed aside Sunderland at Goodison Park and we think they can do the same to the Royals.
Nevertheless, there’s been enough drama in cup competitions this term to dissuade us from piling into the Premiership outfit at 8/15 with Stan James and indeed it could be prudent to seek value elsewhere.
Brian McDermott’s side can certainly make it an uncomfortable evening for the Toffees who tempt at 5/2 (888Sport) to shade it by a one-goal margin but it’s in the anytime goalscorer market that the stand-out wager can be found.
Jermaine Beckford bagged a brace to fire Everton to victory on Saturday and in the process took his recent tally to five in eight. Crucially however, he has only started five of those eight games and in the matches in which the former Leeds man has been involved from the beginning, he has struck four times.
Beckford is sure to be in David Moyes’ first eleven in this one after his weekend double and at 7/5 courtesy of bet365 he looks a great shout to pop up with a goal at some point, especially as he is up against a Championship defence.
Recommended Bets:
Jermaine Beckford to score at any time – 7/5 (bet365)
