Live on Skysports 1: Tue 08.30: Sri Lanka are an overwhelming 1/66 (Paddy Power) to beat Kenya, so where does the value lie?
Sri Lanka, in front of a bouyant home crowd in Colombo, should blow the Kenyans away if they are at all serious at challenging for the World Cup trophy.
The Kenyans are 18/1 (bet365) to cause an upset but after scores of 69 and 112 all out, they are hardly set to trouble the co-hosts. So where are some decent prices?
Sri Lanka were most recently involved in a cracking match against Pakistan, which they lost by 11 runs, but the quality was very high and Murali’s bowling really stepped up towards the end of the Pakistan innings. If he carries that form into this match, he will have a field day with the Kenyan batters – he is definitely worth taking at 7/2 with 888sport. The same firm offer 4/7 that Murali will bowl a maiden and keep a good eye out for any odds about him being the most economical bowler.
A short odds bet worth looking at could be Sri Lanka to hit the most sixes at 9/20 with YouWin.com, however this is probably only worth taking if Sri Lanka bat first as they could be chasing a small total. Sticking with the bat, Jayawardene is worth having at 5/1 (Sportingbet) to top score.
As for Kenya, Collins Obuya has been by far the best man with the bat. You can discount the lower half of the order, 4 of the final 5 wickets against Pakistan went for ducks (and 3 of the final 4 against NZ), and Obuya is defnitely worth a punt at 5/1 (Stan James).
