Walsall could be a touch overpriced at 7/2 (Totesport) as they head to Colchester in a bid to avoid relegation from League One.
Walsall boosted their bid for League One survival on Tuesday by defeating fellow strugglers Dagenham and the Saddlers have now lost just once in their last six outings. This week they head to inconsistent Colchester and Dean Smith’s side look a little on the high side at 7/2 with Totesport to collect a vital maximum haul.
The U’s have lost four of their last six and although their home form has remained relatively solid, with all of those defeats coming on the road, they’re not exactly in possession of a winning mentality at present and that’s why we think they’re vulnerable.
Walsall for their part, have won only three times away from home but one of those came on their last trip, an impressive 3-1 success at Carlisle and they’re worth taking a punt on at such a big price. The cautious meanwhile, can back them in Stan James’ ‘Draw no Bet’ market at 9/4.
Like Colchester, Hartlepool have been losing plenty of away matches but have been picking up points here and there on their own patch, unlike the U’s however, they appeal at 6/4 (bet365) to continue in that vein by seeing off MK Dons. Steady is how you would sum up Karl Robinson’s charges lately but they were edged out by Leyton Orient in midweek while ‘Pools were registering an altogether more impressive result, a 2-1 victory, against promotion-chasing Charlton and the hosts should subsequently have the edge in this one.
Finally, it’s the aforementioned Addicks that form the basis for the final recommendation. Striker Bradley Wright-Phillips notched in his first three games after swapping Plymouth’s Home Park for the Valley and although he failed to get on the scoresheet at Hartlepool, he’s too big to pass up at 9/4 with Coral to find the net again as Charlton host Exeter.
