Oscar Whisky has been installed as the odds-on 1/5 chance to win tomorrow’s running of the William Hill Welsh Champion Hurdle.
The Dai Walters-owned hurdler – a 14/1 chance with Hills for March’s Champion Hurdle – puts his Cheltenham credentials on the line in the Ffos Las race, and ranks above 10/1 second-favourites Won in the Dark, and Black Jack Blues.
It will be the first running of the William Hill Welsh Champion Hurdle – after the race was abandoned in last year’s white-out. An event steeped in history, winners such as Night Nurse, Bula, and Persian War all adorn the roll of honour.
Kate Miller, spokeswoman for William Hill, said: ‘’After an impressive demolition at Cheltenham last month, Oscar Whisky put himself firmly into contention as a possible Champion Hurdler with the Welsh version the first on his agenda.’’
