Go For Goals At London Road

Live on Skysports 2: Sat 17.20: As Southampton travel to Peterborough as 7/5 favs (Coral), it’s the goals you want to look out for.

The goals keep flowing at London Road, where a 5-3 Peterborough success on Tuesday took the tally to a remarkable 69 in just 14 matches. That’s an average of almost five per Posh home game and there seems to be no reason why the goals will dry up as Darren Ferguson’s men entertain fourth-placed Southampton in League One.

Boasting attacking talent like Lee Barnard, Rickie Lambert and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Saints have struck eleven times in their last four away matches and have one of the best scoring records on the road in League One, so they’re a team more than capable of capitalising on leaky defending, hence they’re Coral’s 7/5 favourites.

Nevertheless, the hosts, a 2/1 shot at bet365, have an even more prolific forward line and as a result it’s difficult to pick a winner; swerve the match betting then and stick with goals, taking advantage of 6/4 marked against a total of more than 3.5.

Seven points adrift of the top six, Sheffield Wednesday are running the risk of giving themselves too much to do in terms of reaching the play-offs and only a win will do as they host MK Dons this weekend.

Alan Irvine brought in five players in January in at attempt to instil some consistency in his Owls side, who are Stan James’ 21/20 favourites, and it’s one of those signings that can make an impact this weekend.

Prised from Carlisle, young striker Gary Madine has quickly acclimatised to life in South Yorkshire, bagging two goals in his first three games to take his tally for the campaign to 15 and on home soil he’s a very tempting 2/1 (Coral) to penetrate an MK Dons defence that has looked shaky on the road at times.

Floundering Swindon, with just one league win to their name in nine attempts, have slipped into the relegation zone and Rochdale are a decent bet to heap more misery on Danny Wilson’s strugglers, as the pair meet at the County Ground.

‘Dale are unbeaten in seven and have won three out of their last four on their travels so they’re a touch big at 23/10 with , but as they’re been partial to one or draws of late, Keith Hill’s charges are best backed ‘Draw No Bet’ at 11/8 (Paddy Power).

Recommended Bets:
Gary Madine to score at any time for Sheffield Wednesday – 2/1 (Coral)
Over 3.5 goals in Peterborough v Southampton – 6/4 ()
Rochdale to beat Swindon ‘Draw No Bet’ – 11/8 (Paddy Power)
