Villa To Run United Close

Live on Skysports 2: Tues 20.00: West Brom are 8/11 with Stan James to beat Wigan while Aston Villa could trouble Manchester United.

There’s a big relegation six-pointer at the Hawthorns, where Stan James’ 8/11 favourites West Brom should make home advantage count to boost their survival hopes with a victory against Wigan but as the odds-on quotes don’t really appeal this isn’t one to risk huge amounts on.

Aston Villa head to Old Trafford in confident mood having won their last three in all competitions and they can recall record signing Darren Bent for the clash with the league leaders after the striker was cup-tied for Saturday’s victory against Blackburn.

Gerard Houllier’s men were also unfortunate not to beat United when the pair met at Villa Park, so there are plenty of reasons for Villa to feel positive, despite kicking off as Totesport’s 9/1 outsiders. However, Sir Alex Ferguson’s men remain unbeaten and have dropped points in only one home match this season so they deserve to be 1/3 favourites at and should get the better of the buoyant Villans.

Nevertheless, in the circumstances, the visitors can give a good account of themselves and it could be worth siding with Villa in the handicaps, where Coral give them a two-goal start at odds of 4/6. Alternatively, Manchester United are 11/4 with Stan James to shade it by one.

At the Emirates, Arsenal have to be fancied to get the better of Everton, even though the Toffees have drawn seven of their twelve away matches. The Gunners have been toiling in cup competitions of late but have remained pretty solid in the league and are a home banker at 1/2 (William Hill) against an Everton team that struggled to convert dominance in possession into an advantage on the scoreboard against Chelsea on Saturday.

At the Stadium of Light, Sunderland are looking to do the double over Chelsea after beating them 3-0 at Stamford Bridge earlier in the campaign and they can manage a positive result against the Blues. The Black Cats are 9/2 outsiders at bet365, which could lure the ambitious but a safer way to go is to either back the hosts in the ‘Draw No Bet’ market at 3/1 (Betfred) or side with Steve Bruce’s charges kicking off a goal to the good in the handicaps at 11/10 with 888Sport.

Recommended Bets:
Sunderland (+1) to beat Chelsea – 11/10 (888Sport)
Aston Villa (+2) to beat Manchester United – 4/6 (Coral)
