Arsenal v Leeds
Bacary Sagna is suspended for ARSENAL while ‘keeper Manuel Almunia (ankle) and midfielder Abou Diaby (calf) will certainly not be fit but Kieran Gibbs is set to return. Sanchez Watt is eligible to play for LEEDS against his parent club but Andy O’Brien (leg) and Lloyd Sam (head) are doubts.
Millwall v Birmingham
MILLWALL are without the suspended Alan Dunne but skipper John Robinson should start while John Sullivan and Shaun MacDonald have returned from loan. Lee Bowyer is suspended for BIRMINGHAM after an FA review and both James McFadden (knee) and Enric Valles (foot) are still out.
Blackburn v QPR
Paul Robinson (calf) is very likely to miss out for BLACKBURN, Brett Emerton has left for the Asian Cup, Nikola Kalinic is still suspended and it will be one week too early for Keith Andrews (groin). Patrick Agyemang (leg fracture) is a big loss for QPR and Matthew Connoly is still suspended.
Bolton v York
Lee Chung-Yong is at the Asian Cup while knee injuries rule out BOLTON quartet Gretar Steinsson, Ricardo Gardner, Sean Davis and Joey O’Brien. YORK’s Peter Till is hoping for a recall after recovering from an ankle injury and Danny Racchi is available after signing a permanent deal at Bootham Crescent.
Brighton v Portsmouth
Inigo Calderon must sit out for BRIGHTON as he serves a ban while Chris Wood’s loan has been extended until the season-end but Alan Navarro (knee) remains out. Ricardo Rocha (hamstring) faces two weeks on the sidelines for POMPEY while Greg Halford is suspended even if his loan is extended.
Bristol City v Sheff Wed
Sam Vokes has left BRISTOL CITY after loan completion but captain Louis Carey could be in line for a recall after recovering from injury while Liam Fontaine (ankle) is a doubt. WEDNESDAY’s new signing Reda Johnson will push for a start but Jon Otsemobor (calf) and Lewis Buxton (leg) are out.
Burnley v Port Vale
BURNLEY attacker Jay Rodriguez is pushing to start having only made the bench at Reading following a flu bug and John Guidetti’s loan spell has been extended. PORT VALE will be without the suspended Marc Richards but Stuart Tomlinson is available after successfully appealing against his dismissal at Rotherham.
Burton Albion v Middlesbrough
BURTON midfielder Aaron Webster must wait and see if he retains his starting berth after an apparent spat at Port Vale, with boss Paul Peschisolido who has no further concerns. BORO striker Scott McDonald is on international duty but Kevin Thomson (calf) and Gary O’Neil (illness) could return to the fold.
Coventry v Crystal Palace
COVENTRY striker Marlon King is suspended and James McPake (knee) faces a month out while Ben Turner (knee) is still injured. Managerless PALACE could appoint Eddie Howe as boss by Saturday while Alex Marrow has joined on a permanent deal and defender Claude Davis should be fit.
Doncaster v Wolves
DONCASTER lose Denis Gueda to suspension but welcome back Sam Hird and possibly duo Shelton Martis and skipper Brian Stock after both sat out last Monday. Sylvan Ebanks-Blake (hamstring) will have to sit out for WOLVES but Karl Henry is ready to step back in after a length knee injury.
Fulham v Peterborough
Andy Johnson (hamstring) is injured for FULHAM this weekend and Mark Schwarzer has left for the Asian Cup but Moussa Dembele is set to return after resting midweek. Kieran Agard has joined PETERBOROUGH on loan but Lee Frecklington (ankle) and Dave Hibbert (knee) are to miss out.
Huddersfield v Dover
HUDDERSFIELD defender Jamie McCombe is pushing for start after a flu bug meant he only made the bench against Sheffield Wednesday but the Terriers have no further injury worries. Jon Wallis, Donovan Simmonds and Elliott Charles hope to return for DOVER after missing the emphatic 7-2 victory at Thurrock.
Hull v Wigan
Peter Halmosi and Will Atkinson have left HULL and Liam Rosenior is suspended but James Chester has signed on a permanent deal. WIGAN are set to be without Charles N’Zogbia (suspension), Tom Cleverley (hamstring), Emmerson Boyce (hamstring) while Chris Kirkland (head) is a serious doubt.
Lincoln City v Hereford
Paul Green is pushing for start for LINCOLN, who should have Clark Keltie (thigh) and Andrew Hutchinson (hamstring) back but Adam Watts is a doubt having injured his knee at Northampton. HEREFORD must decide whether to risk Rob Purdie (hamstring) while fit again Sam Gwynne is hoping for some involvement.
Norwich v Leyton Orient
David Fox looks set to return for NORWICH while Elliot Ward (calf), Henri Lansbury (hamstring) and Andrew Surman (knee) are all out and Chris Martin could be recalled. Ryan Jarvis has returned to ORIENT after a loan while Terrell Forbes is available for selection following suspension.
Preston v Nott’m Forest
Phil Brown takes over as manager of PRESTON and could reinstate Leon Cort to defence. Marcus Tudgay has joined FOREST on a permanent deal and Robert Earnshaw will be pushing for a recall while Julian Bennett and Mark Byrne have returned from loan.
Reading v West Brom
Ivar Ingimarsson (hamstring) and Brynjar Gunnarsson (knee) are doubtful for READING but have returned to training. Gabriel Tamas is suspended for WEST BROM, Steven Reid (knee) is out for up to six weeks and it could be too soon for Martin Olsson (Achilles) but Paul Scharner is targeting a return.
Scunthorpe v Everton
Michael Raynes is pushing for a SCUNTHORPE place after returning to fitness but both Niall Canavan (knee) and Kim McNulty (ankle) are out. Phil Jagielka (thigh) is EVERTON’s only injury concern while Tim Cahill is away at the Asian Cup so David Moyes could name an unchanged side.
Sheff Utd v Aston Villa
Striker Richard Cresswell (shoulder) is a big loss for the BLADES while Stephen Quinn is still suspended. Fabian Delph (knee) will have to sit this weekend’s clash out for VILLA, along with Emile Heskey (suspended), while Kyle Walker has joined on loan from Spurs and Gabriel Agbonlahor should be fit again.
Southampton v Blackpool
SOUTHAMPTON have no new injury problems going into this Cup game but Lee Holmes (ankle) is now out for the season. David Carney has departed BLACKPOOL for the Asian Cup, Matthew Gilks (knee) is out and Elliot Grandin (hamstring) is a doubt but Marlon Harewood is nearing a return.
Stoke v Cardiff
Aside from Mamady Sidibe (Achilles), STOKE have no fresh injury worries. CARDIFF’s new signing Jon Parkin looks to have shaken off a knee problem and is set for his debut in place of the injured Jay Bothroyd (hamstring) while Chris Riggott (also hamstring) faces a lengthy time on the sidelines.
Sunderland v Notts County
SUNDERLAND are rocked by another bad injury to David Meyler (knee) and Danny Welbeck (hamstring) is set to be out for some time while Boudewijn Zenden is suspended. NOTTS COUNTY will recall Lee Hughes after illness pushed him to the bench and Ricky Ravenhill is pushing for a start.
Swansea v Colchester
SWANSEA are set to be without pair Andrea Orlandi (thigh) and Neil Taylor (ankle) while defender Alan Tate serves the final game of his suspension. COLCHESTER have signed Conor Powell and extended David Mooney’s loan while full-back Brian Wilson (ankle) is out and David Wilson suspended.
Torquay v Carlisle
Guy Branston (hamstring) is a doubt for TORQUAY so Chris Robertson could continue to deputise. CARLISLE are hoping to obtain clearance to select Marc-Antoine Gbarssin, Danny Livesey is close to a return while boss Greg Abbott was also hoping to extend loan deals for Lubomir Michalik and Mike Grella.
Watford v Hartlepool
Andrew Taylor and Jordan Mutch are set to leave WATFORD after their loans expired while Don Cowie (Achilles) and Danny Graham (hamstring) are doubtful and captain John Eustace (calf) is definitely out. Sam Collins’ injury (knee) is better than first feared for HART’POOL but he will not figure here.
West Ham v Barnsley
Jack Collison and Junior Stanislas have a chance of returning for WEST HAM and Lars Jacobsen is back in full training but Benni McArthy (calf) is unlikely to play. BARNSLEY have signed Kern Miller and Matt Hill should retain his placer while Jay McEveley and Luke Potter (both knee) are out.
Stevenage v Newcastle
Darius Charles is suspended for STEVENAGE and Peter Winn (leg) is a doubt while Byron Harrison has signed. Andy Carroll (thigh) will miss out for NEWCASTLE and Shola Ameobi (ankle) is ‘touch and go’ while Steven Taylor, Cheik Tiote (both hamstring) and Alan Smith (knee) are all injured.
Man Utd v Liverpool – Sun
Wayne Rooney (ankle) is UNITED’s major worry ahead of Sunday’s big game and Rio Ferdinand (fatigue) could be rested but Edwin Van der Sar is likely to step in between the sticks. LIVERPOOL are set to be without Raul Meireles and Jay Spearing (both ankle) but are otherwise full strength.
Tottenham v Charlton – Sun
Gareth Bale (back) is likely to be rested for SPURS as a precaution and Younes Kaboul is suspended and while Jamie O’Hara (back) is doubtful, he might make his way onto the substitutes bench. Managerless CHARLTON will be without strikers Paul Benson (suspended) and Akppo Sodje (shoulder).
Chelsea v Ipswich – Sun
CHELSEA full-back Yuri Zhirkov is nearing full fitness but Alex (knee) is out and John Obi Mikel (knee) faces a month on the sidelines. IPSWICH will be without Grant Leadbitter after the club decided not to appeal the red card he received against Nottingham Forest. Jason Scotland hopes to regain his place in attack.
Leicester v Man City – Sun
New boy Sol Bamba could feature for LEICESTER, who are without Kyle Naughton (ineligible), Miguel Vitor (hamstring) and Greg Cunningham (leg). David Silva and Mario Balotelli (both knee) look set to miss out again for CITY but Aleksandr Kolarov and Adam Johnson are both pushing to start.
Crawley Town v Derby – Mon
CRAWLEY new boy Josh Simpson is cup-tied so fans favourite Ben Smith looks set to return to the midfield in his place. Gareth Roberts should recover from a calf problem for DERBY while Miles Addison, Steve Davies and Jake Buxton are hoping for some involvement after featuring for the reserves in midweek
