Paul Ferguson has three more tips for us today; two coming from Huntingdon (2.10 & 3.40) and one from Thurles (2.35).
Over in Ireland at Thurles Arabella Boy (12:35) can get the day off to the best possible start in the opening 3m beginners’ chase.
Nina Carberry’s mount holds an advantage in terms of experience over his main market rivals and the six-year-old has run three solid races over fences to date.
The step up to 3m is sure to bring about improvement and Enda Bolger’s charge should prove difficult to beat.
The market for Huntingdon’s WilliamHill.com Novices’ Hurdle is likely to be dominated by Cucumber Run and High Benefit, but Somewhatinevitable (2:10) caught my eye in a Kempton bumper last spring and maybe worth chancing at a nice price.
He got no further than the first flight on debut at Newbury, which is an obvious concern here, and he was also quite green in the parade ring beforehand.
However, judged on his debut effort, he definitely has ability and could go well for Paul Webber and Will Kennedy.
Nicky Henderson and Barry Geraghty can round off proceedings courtesy of Ascot runner-up Ericht (3:40) in the bumper.
The drop in trip may not be ideal, but he will be more streetwise this time around and should be tough to beat, with the Ascot race working out well.
Thursday’s selections:
12:35 Thurles Arabella Boy
2:10 Huntingdon Somewhatinevitable
3:40 Huntingdon Ericht
