We’ve got two more tips from Paul Ferguson today, both from Southwell; Problema Tic (15.10) and Knight Pass (15.40).
Nicky Henderson has his team in fine shape at present and he has three very solid chances at Southwell on Wednesday.
The exciting Bellvano makes his chasing debut in the opener, but will be sent off long odds on, while Be There In Five needs to leave a disappointing first start over fences in the second race.
His third runner Problema Tic (3:10) should take a bit of beating in the penultimate contest and will be a more reasonable price than Bellvano.
A soft ground bumper winner at Towcester on debut, he bettered that when winning a good ground contest at Aintree in May, under today’s jockey Tony McCoy.
Evan Williams’ Timesawastin is another interesting contender but, with the Henderson horses in such good heart, Problema Tic is given the vote.
The concluding bumper is an interesting affair and the pair of previous winners set a decent standard for the maidens and the newcomers.
Avoca Promise ran well at Ascot and went on to win at Bangor, but preference is for Knight Pass (3:40) who created a favourable impression on debut at Sandown in November.
Warren Greatrex’s Accordion gelding beat Sire De Greugy by 8 lengths and, while the form has been let down by those further down the field, the runner-up went on to run well the next twice before winning a maiden hurdle at Fakenham on New Year’s Day.
Wednesday’s selections:
3:10 Southwell Problema Tic
3:40 Southwell Knight Pass
