Huddersfield’s Christmas blues are set to continue as they head to Carlisle and the Cumbrians look good at 8/5 with Stan James.
While most teams in League One have been kicking their heels over Christmas, Huddersfield have played both of their festive fixtures, losing 1-0 at home to Hartlepool before suffering a 4-1 hammering at Southampton. They don’t exactly head to Carlisle in buoyant mood then and it’s the Cumbrians at 8/5 with Stan James, we’re siding with at Brunton Park.
Admittedly Greg Abbott’s side haven’t quite been as strong as usual on home soil this term, although their record there is respectable and they have slipped into the bottom half of the table but in what is a congested division, they actually remain only three points adrift of the play-off places. They should also be a touch fresher having not played for three weeks and that should be enough for them to tame the Terriers, who have a pretty ordinary 4-0-6 record on their travels.
Bournemouth have drawn a blank in their last couple, back-to-back defeats against Hartlepool and MK Dons and there’s a suggestion that the loss of the prolific Josh McQuoid to Millwall has significantly weakened their attacking prowess.
There’s little to suggest the Cherries can get back on track at Swindon, whose decent home record is all that is keeping them clear of the drop zone and at 5/4 (Totesport), the Robins are a decent bet at the County Ground, especially as Eddie Howe’s troops have managed just one away win all season.
Elsewhere, Rochdale aren’t unappealing at 6/5 with Coral as they host Tranmere, whose mini-revival has been halted while resurgent Hartlepool are worth considering at 13/10 courtesy of Betdaq to get the better of Oldham.
