With Cheltenham officials “optimistic” of staging full cards on Friday and Saturday, it is hoped that this is the final day in the series of Paul Ferguson‘s horses for your notebook.
The two horses listed below impressed me when winning bumpers in the early weeks of the National Hunt season.
Knight Pass (W J Greatrex)
The four-year-old son of Accordion made a winning debut at Sandown in early November, where he picked up like a smart prospect.
Owned by Malcolm Denmark, who’s Monsignor won the 1999 Champion Bumper and the 2000 SunAlliance Hurdle, he had 8l to spare at the line from Sire De Grugy, who has since chased home Bobs Worth on his hurdles debut at Kempton.
Connections have the option of going for another bumper or switching to hurdles and, whichever route they take, Knight Pass looks one to note.
Persian Snow (P J Hobbs)
Another four-year-old, Philip Hobbs’ charge ran out an impressive winner at Ascot in late October and the form has since been boosted when the runner-up, Balding Banker, won a bumper at Newbury’s Hennessy meeting.
A faller when in command of his sole Irish point, he should make up into a lovely jumper in time, but for now connections are happy to continue down the bumper path.
The son of Anshan looks to have a very bright future.
Paul Ferguson’s Jumpers To Follow 2010-11 is available hot off the press from the 1st October for just £9.99
