Two of League One’s form teams come head to head at St Mary’s as Southampton seem a little short at 8/13 (Stan James) to beat Brentford.
Brentford arrested a poor run of away games with a solid win at Tranmere and haven’t looked back, winning 4 on the bouce away from home and in some decent style too. The 5/1 at Paddy Power about the Bees is simply too large.
Southampton do have quality, there’s no doubting that, 5 wins in the last 6 at home (with 4 clean sheets) is very solid but the 8/13 (Stan James) is not backable when entertaining a team that shut out Colchester on their own patch. Those slightly worried by Soton’s home record can still back Brentford at 5/4 (Sportingbet) with a 1 goal headstart, covering the draw.
Huddersfield love playing at the Galpharm and aside from a shock blip against Exeter, beat most teams put infront of them at home. Ladbrokes’ 5/4 about the Terriers to beat top-placed Brighton is just about spot on then as the visitors have just started to look a bit fragile in places, especially when they lost to Hartlepool and failed to beat Woking in the Cup. A tight first half ending in a draw could then yield a Huddersfield win at 9/2 (888sport).
Paul Dickov is turning Boundary Park into something of a fortress this season, sending teams such as Bournemouth and Huddersfield skulking off without a single point. To see 6/5 at bet365 for them to beat Swindon is enticing to say the least, Swindon reeling from a cup exit to non-league Crawley and also having the honour of being the side that Notts County managed to beat while in freefall. The adventurous could back Oldham at 10/3 (Stan James) to win by 2 or more.
Lastly, Colchester have been picking up wins against lower opposition but have conceded goals in the process and lost to anyone of any quality so would love to beat Yeovil (8/11 Blue Square). Yeovil, whilst losing 4 away games straight, have done so to top opposition on a nasty run that could come to an end with a little assistance; they are 23/20 at Sportingbet to win or draw.
