Graeme McDowell has been shortened from 5/1 to 7/2 to win the Sports Personality of The Year award with Paddy Power.
He’s been the man of the moment ever since winning the US Open at Pebble Beach in June and Graeme McDowell shows no signs of slowing down after winning a playoff against former World Number 1 Tiger Woods at the Chevron World Challenge last Sunday.
The Portrush man, fondly nicknamed G-Mac, is now one of the hot contenders to win this year’s prestigious BBC Sports Personality of the Year award. His success at the weekend has seen a surge in support for the Ulsterman with Paddy Power snipping his odds from 5/1 to 7/2.
His main rival for the accolade is fellow Northern Irish sportsman and Paddy Power’s 11/10 favourite Tony McCoy. The! fifteen-time champion jockey and Grand National winner is being mooted to become the first jockey ever to win the award.
Sharon McHugh, spokesperson for Paddy Power said: “This year’s BBC Sports Personality betting is closer than ever. Not only have we got two Ulstermen battling it out to get the most votes but we also have current World Number 1 Lee Westwood in there too, so the golf vote could be split. It’s still wide open but G-Mac is gathering a lot of momentum.”
