Brentford have picked themselves up well after their disappointing cup exit at the hands of League Two outfit Aldershot, winning at Plymouth and notching twice without reply at Colchester so they should collect maximum points this weekend at Griffin Park where they entertain struggling Notts County.
The Magpies have lost six out of eight on their travels and their poor recent form has seen them drop into the bottom four. Subsequently the Bees are odds-on in places, quotes we’d be happy to steer clear of but as Coral go 11/10 about the home win, Andy Scott’s men suddenly look decent value.
Punters seeking a lively outsider might consider Hartlepool, at 13/5 (Ladbrokes) as they host Southampton. Admittedly Saints have looked more like the promotion contenders they were expected to be of late, but they have still lost more games than they have won on the road, they won’t relish the long trip to the freezing North East while ‘Pools have beaten leaders Brighton at home in the last few weeks. The hosts are available at 13/8 in Paddy Power’s ‘Draw No Bet’ market.
Bournemouth are third in the table, despite having won only once on the road but a run of just one defeat in nine league and cup matches suggests that they can improve their away record as they travel to patchy Bristol Rovers.
The Pirates have the worst scoring record on home soil and were beaten 3-0 by struggling Leyton Orient in their last match at the Memorial Stadium, so the Cherries look a touch overpriced at 17/10 with 888Sport.
