Premier League Preview

Chris Hutcheon previews this weekend’s Premier League action. Saturday’s televised game between Blackpool and Manchester United has been postponed.

Chelsea have now won just one of their last five but they come up against an Everton side reeling from a 4-1 home defeat to West Brom and subsequently it’s Carlo Ancelotti’s team that have to be fancied. Nevertheless, once again the skinny quote, this time 4/11, doesn’t excite and with the Toffees set to respond to last weekend’s loss with characteristic resilience, a victory by one for the favourites (3/1, Stan James), again appeals as does a match in which each side gets on the scoresheet (evens, William Hill).

Only Wigan have scored fewer home goals than Manchester City, which will be concern for Roberto Mancini, but his side can notch enough times to beat Bolton and they’re 4/7 (Stan James) to do just that. Staying in the top four, Arsenal are just 3/10 with William Hill to get the better of Fulham at the Emirates and Paddy Power quote them at 11/10 to beat the Cottagers ‘to nil’ while Liverpool are 8/13 (Ladbrokes) to emerge triumphant on Monday as they come face-to-face with former boss Gerard Houllier’s Aston Villa.

Elsewhere, Birmingham and Tottenham are 9/4 with Betfred to share the spoils at St Andrews, bet365’s draw quote of 9/4 is the best bet at the Hawthorns, where West Brom host Newcastle and it could also be inconclusive (23/10, Betdaq) as Wigan and Stoke lock horns at the DW Stadium.

Sunderland meanwhile, are hard to oppose at 10/11 with 888Sport, as they entertain struggling West Ham and Paddy Power price Blackburn at 5/6 to bounce back from their Old Trafford mauling by seeing off Wolves.

Recommended Bets:
Both teams to score in Chelsea v Everton – evens (William Hill)
Arsenal to beat Fulham ‘to nil’ – 11/10 (Paddy Power)
