Take London Sunday Double

Live on Sky Sporst 1: Sun 13:30 & 16:00. Chris Hutcheon previews Sunday’s televised Premier League games and fancies Spurs to beat Liverpool and Chelsea to win at Newcastle

At 2-0 down Tottenham looked down and out at the Emirates last Saturday but they rallied impressively in the second half to beat rivals Arsenal in their own backyard and that result bodes well for today’s visit of Liverpool.

The Reds were victorious themselves at the weekend, but their three-point haul came at Anfield against rock-bottom West Ham and their record on the road does little to suggest they can belie their status as bet365’s 13/5 outsiders to defeat Harry Redknapp’s charges, worthy 5/4 favourites at Betdaq.

Roy Hodgson’s side will draw encouragement from the fact that Spurs tend to concede first the weekend after a Champions League encounter and Liverpool are 13/10 courtesy of Paddy Power to break the deadlock in North London, however, the appeal of that wager is reduced by the fact that Hodgson’s troops are without Steven Gerrard and have managed just four goals in seven on their travels.

Nevertheless, Tottenham are hardly rock-solid in defence and it should be a game in which both teams find the net (4/5, William Hill) while a tally of more than 2.5 goals also looks likely at evens courtesy of .

A 2-1 home win could prove popular then at 8/1 (Betfred) but the ambitious might want to risk a quid on a 3-2 Spurs success, priced by Labrokes at 28/1. Rafael van der Vaart is 2/1 with Coral to contribute to the goal tally at any point.

Chelsea have lost three of their last four in the Premiership, failing to score in that trio of defeats but they should arrest their slide and get back amongst the goals against a Newcastle side significantly weakened at the back. Fabricio Coloccini and Mike Williamson face suspension for the Magpies and so the Blues have to be fancied at 8/11 with 888Sport to collect the points at St James’ Park where the hosts have failed to convince at times.

Furthermore, Carlo Ancelotti’s men can capitalise on Newcastle’s weakened defence by scoring at least twice (4/5, bet365) and Totesport quote Florent Malouda at 2/1 to grab one of those.

Recommended Bets:
Tottenham to beat Liverpool – 5/4 (Betdaq)
Florent Malouda to score at any time for Chelsea at Newcastle – 2/1 (Totesport)
