Paul Ferguson has three selections for us on Monday from Kempton and Ffos Las: Bobs Worth, Teaforthree and Kauto The Roc.
Nicky Henderson has won Kempton’s opening novice hurdle four times in the past nine runnings and the Lambourn handler should make it five from 10 thanks to Bobs Worth (12:30) on Monday.
A bumper winner at the track in April, it will be disappointing if he can’t cope with these rivals on his hurdles bow.
Later on the card Kauto The Roc (2:35) is worth support in the 3m handicap hurdle, a race trainer Alan King won in 2006 and 2007.
The six-year-old was fairly highly tried last year, but has come in to his own since being stepped up this term and this trip on a tight track should suit.
Interestingly, young 10lb claimer Peter Hatton has ridden three times this season for King, winning twice including on Kauto The Roc at Fontwell last time.
At Ffos Las Teaforthree (1:20) ought to get off the mark at the second time of asking over hurdles. Rebecca Curtis’s six-year-old winning Irish pointer ran a corker on his British debut in a hot Cheltenham bumper and backed that up by chasing home a useful looking sort over 2m4f at Chepstow on his debut over timber. The step up to 3m should be ideal and he can make the most of the 7lbs he receives from market rival Alpine Breeze.
Monday’s selections:
12:30 Kempton Bobs Worth
1:20 Ffos Las Teaforthree
2:35 Kempton Kauto The Roc
