Paul Ferguson two selections for us on Saturday; Waitonit in the Market Rasen 1.35 and Goshen in the Haydock 3.45. Compare odds and bet.
Absent since falling with the Triumph Hurdle at his mercy Goshen (3:45) returns to action on the Flat at Haydock on Saturday, where he should be hard to beat off a mark of 88.
The winner of his three starts on the level last season (started on a mark of 64), he of course showed masses of improvement as a juvenile hurdler, and conditions look ideal for this reappearance. Rated 157 over hurdles, Gary Moore’s four-year-old could well find himself at the head of the Champion Hurdle market if winning this race impressively, and there is scope for him to land a nice prize on the Flat, before he reverts to hurdles in the weeks ahead. Despite his obvious appeal and the fact that he faces just five rivals, this isn’t a bad contest (so I wouldn’t be taking a very short a price about him), but he looks up to the task, in receipt of well all around.
Over at Market Rasen, hopefully the rain will stay away for Waitonit (1:35) who remains on a fair mark for this second start over fences.
He dominated the opposition when winning at Southwell in July (runner-up has run well off a higher mark since) when he would have won a lot more comfortably only for making a serious error at the final fence. He looks progressive.
Saturday’s selection:
1:35 Market Rasen – Waitonit; 5/2 BetVictor
3:45 Haydock – Goshen; 2/5 Betfred
