Awarded the race in the Steward’s room on his reappearance at Newbury, Tempus (4:50) is taken to defy a 2lbs rise in the Beefeater Handicap at Ascot on Friday.
Roger Charlton’s four-year-old was having his first start in 10 months on that occasion, so can be expected to improve fitness wise, and he remains lightly-raced and progressive, after just five career starts. Well suited by an ease in the ground, conditions should be ideal, and he can continue his climb through the ranks.
