Last year’s winner Elarqam heads the betting in the Sky Bet York Stakes on Saturday, but Telecaster (2:40) wasn’t too far behind him at Haydock recently (form advertised by the winner at Royal Ascot) and he duly returned to winning ways in France last month.
Quite keen at Haydock (understandable after 11 months off) it is hoped that he can continue to progress now, having shown considerable promise in the first half of last season as a three-year-old. He remains lightly-raced after just seven career starts, and it should be remembered that this was the scene of his biggest success to date, when winning the Dante impressively last May. At the prices, I’m happy to take the favourite on with him.
