Out of sorts Yeovil travel to Charlton in League 1 where the Addicks are 4/7 (Betfred) to win in what could be a tight affair.
Charlton’s stunning 5-1 victory at Peterborough carried them into second place in League One and the in-form Addicks look like a home banker at 4/7 with Betfred as they prepare to host hapless Yeovil.
The Glovers have taken just one point from their last five games to drop into the relegation mire and the 3-1 defeat to fellow strugglers Dagenham last time out, will have knocked the stuffing out of them given that Terry Skiverton’s side looked on course for a point until the Daggers struck twice in the last ten minutes.
Despite the superiority of the home side, it doesn’t look set to be a high-scoring affair. Charlton’s seven games at the Valley have yielded just 14 goals while Yeovil have averaged less than a goal a game on the road. A 1-0 Addicks triumph isn’t out of the question then at 7/1 with William Hill but we’re happier to play it a touch safer by backing Phil Parkinson’s troops at 15/8 (Paddy Power) to prevail without conceding.
Third-placed Bournemouth have still only managed a solitary away win and the Cherries could find the going tough as they travel to a resilient-looking Leyton Orient. Only Huddersfield and Charlton have beaten the O’s at Brisbane Road this term and both of those defeats came much earlier in the campaign.
Since then Russell Slade’s charges have performed well on their own patch in all competitions and they boosted their stock further last week by registering a first away win of the season, a 3-0 hammering of Bristol Rovers. Confidence is high in the Orient camp then and they look decent value at 6/4 () to overcome their high-flying opponents.
Also at 6/4 for a home win, this time with William Hill, are MK Dons, who lock horns with Sheffield Wednesday. Their midweek cup exit notwithstanding, Karl Robinson’s troops have been outstanding in front of their own supporters this term while the Owls, who remain in trouble off the field, have been hit-and-miss on their travels. Like Leyton Orient, the Dons picked up a rare away win in their last League One outing and they can build on that here.
Elsewhere, goal hunters should look no further than Dagenham’s clash with Oldham. The Daggers’ last six games have seen the net bulge on no fewer than 22 occasions while the Latics have started finding the net away from home with a little more regularity. Their clash is 5/6 courtesy of Stan James to feature three or more goals.
Meanwhile, for the brave, Tranmere have shown signs of life lately and look far too big at 17/5 with to collect three points at Notts County, who have lost five of their last six. Similarly Hartlepool are a touch overpriced at 10/3 (Coral) as they head to Colchester.
